Donald F. LaPorte

Donald F. LaPorte, 65, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Don was born March 22, 1955 in Chicago, IL to Donald R. and Albina C. (Karkula) LaPorte.

On October 30, 1976 in Chicago he married Stella Jean Loaiza, who survives along with their children: Lisa N. LaPorte, Shelly L. LaPorte and Frank J. LaPorte all of Elkhart; four grandchildren: Donavon, Julian, Analise and Samantha; his siblings: Debra Snyder, Kenny (Carleene) LaPorte and Diane (Michael) Szala all of Chicago. Don was preceded in death  by his son Donald R. LaPorte and his parents.

Don grew up in Chicago, IL where he graduated from St. Rita's High School. He played flag football with the Outlaws from the back of the yards. He worked as a route salesman for 27 years for Butternut Bread  in the Chicago area and continued after relocating to Union, MI. He retired from Geocel Industries of Elkhart, IN where he worked for 12 years. Don was a loving and attentive husband, father, papa and brother. He loved to spend countless hours on the water with his family and friends. His love for his family was unmatched. He was always present and there for whoever needed him. In his wallet he always carried pictures of his wife, children and grandchildren. Found next to his wallet was always a comb for his great head of hair. Don's favorite pastime was scratching lottery tickets. He loved to share his great music taste and opinions on Facebook. Don will always be remembered for his unconditional love and care that he provided up till the very end. 

Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514.
