Elwyn DeVon Blough

Elwyn “DeVon” Blough, 94, went home to be with his wife, the love of his life on Wednesday December 22, 2021. He was born December 1, 1927 in Middlebury, IN., to Paul and Ruby (Long) Blough. He married Dorothy “Duffy” (Whalen) Blough on Feb. 14, 1948 at Bristol United Methodist Church in Bristol.

DeVon graduated from Bristol High School Class of 1946. He was a member of Bristol Missionary Church and attended the First Church of God during the winter months with his wife till she passed away on November 20, 2012. He then stayed in Florida permanently. DeVon grew up on his family’s farm and continued farming after he was married. In the early years he had dairy cattle and later grew seed corn for Pioneer. When he retired you could still find him out in the fields. He liked being outdoors doing yard work and gardening. He was active in church and enjoyed helping others. He loved sports and would attend local ball games with friends. He enjoyed going to Lake Sumter Landing. He also had a sweet tooth and loved strawberry milkshakes. He had a kind and gentle soul who loved his family and had a strong faith. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his 5 children, Stephen (Nancy) Blough of Shipshewana, Evon (James) Ward of Hillsdale, MI, Beverly Crussemeyer of Bristol, IN, Cassandra Smith of Bristol, IN and Regina Blough of Sturgis, MI; 13 grandchildren; 21 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great-Great grandchildren; sister Carol Becht of Decatur, AL and daughter-in-law Barbara Blough of Lafayette, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons Tracy O. Blough and Lance A. Blough; brothers Roger Blough and Richard Blough; adopted twin sisters Janet Blough and Janice (Blough) McCalley; and Great-granddaughter Angelina

A celebration of life was be held at 2pm on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where friends visited from 12pm – 2pm. Interment will be private at Zion Cemetery next to his wife.
