Friedrich Bentzer

Friedrich Bentzer, 88 of Elkhart, passed away on Sept. 8, 2018 at the Greenleaf Health Campus.

He was born May 29, 1930 in Yugoslavia to Friedrich and Kathrina (Hauch) Bentzer. He married Barbara Simon on Dec. 8, 1951. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2013. Surviving are a son, Karl (Debbie) Bentzer of Edwardsburg, MI; 2 grandsons, Jason (Glenyce) Bentzer and Ryan (Heidi) Bentzer both of Edwardsburg, MI; 5 great-grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, Lila, Wyatt and Sadie and a sister, Elizabeth Lorenz of Pennsylvania.

Friedrich and Barbara came to the United States in 1956 and lived in Elkhart until his death. He retired as a carpenter for Miller Structure and enjoyed fishing, doing home construction projects and spending time at the lake.

Per his request, there are no services scheduled. He will be laid to rest with his wife at Rice Cemetery.
