John Ellis Dooley

John Ellis Dooley, age 64 of Goshen passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Goshen Hospital. John was born on October 19, 1957 in Elkhart to Harry Ellis and Norita Dooley. He married the love of his life Kimberly Harrell on June 26, 1982 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Elkhart.

John graduated from Fairfield High School class of 1976 in New Paris, IN. In his youth he worked for Burger Dairy, Fidler Redi Mix and was the owner of Flagstix Golf Center in Elkhart. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing cards with “the group”, and a good round of golf. He took great pride in keeping his yard to look like a golf course. His greatest love was spending time with his family, fur babies and friends.

John is survived by his wife of 39, years Kim Dooley; their fur-children Lucy, Ethel and Mr., their daughters Erika (Jake) Gorsuch of Winnsboro, SC. and Jess (McKenna Carter) Dooley of South Bend, IN. grandchildren Reid Gorsuch, Bauer Gorsuch and Piper Gorsuch and grand-dogs Reba, Jack and many more foster-fur grandbabies, his sister Julie Dooley and his brother-in-law Oran Griffith of New Paris, IN., mother-in-law Dreama Jensen of Elkhart and brother-in-law  Col.(Ret) Jeffrey(Susie) Harrell of New Mexico. His special friends Brian Clayton, Belinda Clayton (deceased), Brad Lemler, Cathy Lemler, Dave Thwaits, Rhonda Thwaits “Bee, your euchre partner has arrived!” John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Jeanie Griffith.

A visitation will be held from 1-7pm on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514.
