Jonathan "Jon Jon" Ray Mathews

Jonathan “Jon Jon” Ray Mathews, age 34, of Elkhart passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Jon was born on June 27, 1986 to Lori Mathews in Elkhart, IN.

Jon who was affectionally known to many as Jon Jon or Fat Boy, truly loved life. He had a heart of gold, especially when it came to giving his grandma Elsie a hard time. He enjoyed playing video games on PlayStation with his nieces and nephews, tinkering on cars, or simply just going fishing. His greatest time was spent with his family and friends.

Jon is survived by his parents Lori and Ron Cook; siblings James (Amanda) Mathews of White Pigeon, MI., Roxie Cook of Elkhart and Tony Cook of Elkhart; his grandma Elsie Mathews of Elkhart; his aunt Melissa Mathews of Elkhart and several nieces and nephews; and his step-aunt Marilyn Hemminger.  Jon was preceded in death by his grandpa Donald R. Mathews, step-aunt Annette Humes and step-grandma Winnie Lovely.

Funeral services will be at 7pm on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where friends may visit from 4-7 pm. Burial will be at 2pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart. To help defray funeral cost, donations may be may to the funeral home.
