Kathy Leigh Nieman

Kathryn Leigh Nieman, 55, of Sturgis, MI passed away on Thursday March 28, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. Kathy was born on December 24, 1968 to Chad Lee and Sandra Kay Oakley in Flint, MI. Kathy married Jerry A. Nieman on July 4, 2020 in Sturgis, MI.

Kathy enjoyed candle making, planting a vegetable garden to harvest the crops, and canning them for the winter ahead. She was always trying a new recipe or baking something special for her family. She loved to spend time with her friends and family.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Jerry Nieman of Sturgis; daughter Wilhelmena Von Gethicker of Albion, MI and son Alexzander Eerdman of Sturgis, MI; granddaughter Anna Marie Perry of Albion, MI; mother Sandra Kay Oakley of Minnesota;  sister Autumn (Kyle) Whitely, Eugene, OR and brother Anthony (Stephanie) Oakley of Ankeny, IA; nephew Brandon Oakley; niece Brodi Oakley;  mother-in-law Mary Anne Nieman of Sturgis, MI., father-in-law Jeff Butler of Millersburg, IN. Kathy was preceded in death by her dad, Chad Lee Oakley, sister Sara Von Gethicker and her grandparents.

In keeping with Kathy’s wishes a celebration of her life was held before she passed away. The family will gather at a later date in her memory.
