Lois I. Messick

Lois Messick, age 91, of Elkhart passed away at her home on Monday, April 5, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 26, 1929 in Elkhart to Mervin and Lorene Truex. Lois married Carl Messick, Jr. on July 15, 1950 in Auburn, IN.

Lois was a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma. However, her greatest enjoyment was cooking, baking, gardening and babysitting for her family. Her family enjoyed her singing and assembling puzzles. She will be sadly missed.

Lois is survived by her children, Tom (Carol) Messick, Cindy Cain and Heidi Trowbridge all of Elkhart; her grandchildren, Tasha (Ryan) Gawthrop, Dustin (Cristyn) Messick, Nikki Cain, Tyler “TJ” (Jessica) Cain, Trevor Trowbridge, Kayla Trowbridge and Hannah Trowbridge; 11 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Virginia Cordell, Betty Sims, Buehl “Sonny” Truex and Walter (Barbara) Truex. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Messick, Jr., her son Jeffery Messick and her siblings, Joyce Miers, Wayne Truex, Glen Truex and Donald Gene Truex.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at California Road Cemetery in Elkhart.
