Marjorie Finney

Marjorie Finney, age 87, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart. She was born on October 22, 1934 in Lebanon, IN to Everett Arthur and Garnet Bernice Fonner. She married the love of her life Dale Joseph Finney in Green Castle, Indiana on April 21, 1953.

Marjorie was a retired from the Greater Clark County Schools in May of 2002, where she taught 2nd grade for 41 ½ years. She was a member of St. John Presbyterian Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Hemerocallis Society, Daylily Society of Louisville, Daylily Society of Southern Indiana and Sugar Grove Church in Goshen, IN. Marjorie moved to Elkhart in December of 2017 where she resided with her 2nd cousin Katherine and her Husband Rik Kain until 2021. She attended Sugar Grove Church where she enjoyed small group Bible studies. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship in Elkhart.

Marjorie is survived by her 1st cousin Judith Anderson of Wilmette, IL; 2nd cousins Katherine R. (Rik) Kain of Elkhart, IN.,  John B. (Pamela) Rhoades of Chicago, IL., Molly Kathleen Anderson of Wilmette, IL., Evan Martin Anderson of Chicago, IL; 2nd cousin-in-law Jayne Rhoades of Franklin; IN; 3rd cousins Matthew (Amanda) Kain of Middlebury, IN., Benjamin (Jessica) Kain of Elkhart, IN., Austin (Jamie) Kain of Elkhart, IN.,  Andrew Rhoades of Chicago, IL., Peter (Kiersten) Rhoades of Charlotte, NC., Molly (Jake) Deckard of Franklin, IN and Jamie (Shawn) Abel of Franklin, IN; 4th cousins Addison Kain, Roman Kain, Juliahna Kain, Wesley Kain, Eleanor Kain, Landon Rhoades, Will Deckard and twins Finley and Own Abel. She was preceded in death by her parents Everett Arthur and Garnet Bernice Fonner, husband Dale Joseph Finney, sister Virginia June Fonner and infant brother, 1st cousin Mary Alice and Jack Rhoades and 2nd cousin James F. Rhoades.

Friends may visit with family from 3-4 pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Sugar Grove Church, 58512 Old County Road 17, Goshen, IN 46528 where funeral services will be held at 4pm Pastor Rick Donald will officiate. Burial will be at 11:45 pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Cloverdale Cemetery in Cloverdale, IN, where Marjorie will be laid to rest next to her husband Dale.
