Marla Jean Meyers

Marla Jean Meyers, age 66, of Elkhart passed away peacefully on Friday, September 24, 2021 at her home surrounded by her daughter, granddaughter and nieces Ami and Natalie. She was born on January 6, 1955 to Eugene and Neva Miltroka in Winchester, IN. To know Marla Jean was to love Marla Jean. Her bark was always bigger than her bite, her straight forward, blunt personality made her who she was.

Marla’s pride and joy was her granddaughter Aaliyah. Every moment she could spend with her granddaughter that’s what she was doing. She enjoyed being active in the community, tanning, family, vacations, reunions, going to the beach, cookouts and Notre Dame. She loved to be doing anything outdoors, she just loved being in the sunshine. Marla was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge #599. She worked since the age of 17 and retired in 2019. She was a customer service manager in the van conversion industry for over 20 years. Marla spent a lot of time with her second family the Ivers, she became part of their family at the age of 17 and they couldn’t get rid of her even if they wanted to. Marla’s biggest accomplishment is her daughter, Holly. She was active in Holly’s 4-H, cat club, marching band and attending all of her parades. Marla will be greatly missed and forever loved.

Marla is survived by her daughter Holly Jean White of Elkhart, granddaughter Aaliyah J. White of Elkhart, sister Barbara (Wayne) Dunker of Shipshewana, brothers Steve Miltroka of Elkhart, Mike (Brenda) Miltroka of Elkhart, David Miltroka of Goshen, sister-in-law Judy Miltroka of Elkhart. Marla was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Miltroka and Holly’s dad, Donald B. Meyers.

Friends may visit with family from 4-8 pm on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be at 11 am on Saturday with visitation one hour before. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family to help with funeral expenses. In celebration the life of Marla please remember her favorite quote, “Stay off my grass!!”  In remembering her love for Notre Dame please dress casual and in Notre Dame attire.
