Mary Froschauer Obituary

Mary Kay Froschauer, living in Elkhart, IN, passed on to eternal life at 2:45 am on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart Campus.  She was born to Casmer and Marge Page in Herrin, IL.  She married her husband, Robert Froschauer, on August 29, 1964 in Calumet Park, IL.  She is lovingly survived by her husband Robert and their children John (Debbie), Joe (Johnna), and Jeff (Heather) along with her mother Marge and brother Rob.  “Bema” and “Mary Gram” continues to be loved by her grandchildren Eric (Aspen), Chris, Matt, Jake, Keegan, Brock, Emma and Jack along with great grandchildren Michael and Ryan.  She was preceded in death by her father Casmer and daughter-in-law Johnna.

Mary Kay grew up in Southern Illinois and the Chicago area.  She met her husband Robert at Blue Island Community High School where she was a Varsity Cheerleader.  She studied and graduated from Fox Business College.  After having children, she became a wonderful Homemaker and Mother supporting her family and son’s sports activities.  Volunteering at Little League, Swim Meets, and High School activities was a frequent occurrence for her.  She will be lovingly missed by her family and friends as she put the needs of others and her family before her own.

Mary Kay was an avid supporter and very involved with mental health.  For 17 years she led support group meetings for the Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association (DMDA) and was a contact for people to call needing support with mental health issues.  She also took great pleasure in attending the Mennonite Relief Auction and provided significant support through the years with her participation in the Quilt Auction.  Another love for her was her doll collection that she was able to accumulate over the past 30 years.

The family invites everyone to celebrate Mary Kay’s life with visitation 4 – 8 on Friday February 7 at Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home located at 1531 Cobblestone Blvd in Elkhart.  A rosary will be said at 7:30 pm to conclude the evening.  On February 8, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church located at 411 W. Vistula Street in Bristol, IN where friends may call 1 hour prior to the service.  Reverend Robert Van Kempen will officiate the mass.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mental Health or Hospice organizations.  The website to donate to the Center for Hospice Care is “cfhcare.org” or 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Online condolences may be made at the funeral home website.
