Max W. Elliott

Max Wayne Elliott, age 83, of Elkhart formerly of Union, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Laurels of Goshen surrounded by his family. Max was born on December 4, 1937 in Brocton, IL. to Roy and Naomi Elliott. He married Darlene Rose Herendeen on July 15, 1995 in Marshall, IL.

Max honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired as a maintenance supervisor from Occidental Chemical in Burlington, NJ after 21 years of service. He enjoyed traveling and motorcycling riding with his wife, Darlene, and the Gold Wings Road Riders Association. Max was a kind and caring man, throughout his life he enjoyed being a foster parent to several children. His greatest love in life was spending time with his family and friends. He formerly attended the Church of Christ in Goshen, IN.

Max is survived by his wife of 26 years, Darlene Elliott, children David Elliott of Mt. Holly, NJ., Darren (Cindy) Elliott of Okahumpka,FL., Kevin Elliott of Myrtle Beach, SC., Steven (Lynn) Herendeen of Elkhart, IN., Robert (Rebecca) Herendeen of Bloomington, IN., Derick (Martha) Herendeen of Bourbon, IN., 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, his brother Larry (Sue Ann) Elliott of Paris, IL. Max was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Beverly Knuess and Mary Sue Askew.

Friends may visit with family from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 with full military honors.  Visitation will be held from 10 -11 am at the funeral home on Wednesday.
