Pamela A. Rice

Pamela A. Rice, age 73, of Shipshewana, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, In. She was born January 11, 1949 in Monroe, IN to George Louis and Juanita Kahn.

She married the love of her life, James Darel Rice on February 6, 1971 in Elwood, IN. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2021.

Pam graduated from high school and went on to pursue a career after beauty college. She was a hard-working lady, for many years she worked as a crane operator.  Retirement was no place for Pam, she worked at the local pizza shop, the candy shop and at Martin’s Supermarket side door deli. In her spare time, she would enjoy bargain shopping with her grandchildren and most importantly going on a lunch date. She enjoyed going to church, cooking for her family and camping with her late husband, Jim. She loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Pam is survived by her children, Douglas W. (Gina) Rice of Bristol and Shannon (Laura) Rice of Elkhart; grandchildren Chad (Kalie) Hoien, Jeremy Neely, Amanda Rice, Emily (Chase) Stephenson, Hannah (Casey) Cochran, Lukas Rice, Meghan Rice and Chaise Dilorenzo; great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Cohen, Lennox, Angel, Evelyn, Persephonie, Gabby, Gavin, Lily, Carter, Ellaria, Kolten and Kayden; her brother William (Mary) Kahn of Kokomo, IN. Pam was preceded in death by her husband and her sisters Penny Smith and Doris Gray.

Visitation will be held from 12-1 pm on Saturday June 4, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral services will be held at 1 pm. She will be laid to rest at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN. next to her husband. Rev. Dave Rowland will officiate.
