Rick Newton Obituary

Rick A. Newton, 58, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday Dec. 23, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

He was born Aug. 19, 1960 in Elkhart to Ronald I. and Charlene K. (Overholser) Newton. He married Jill Farrand Boss who survives along with his children, Elizabeth (Kevin Metcalf) Newton of Elkhart, Matthew L. (Missy) Harwood of Muncie and Katie Harwood of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Sydney and Jackson Harwood; brother, Greg (Kristie Hess) Newton of Elkhart and his father, Ronald Newton of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his mother Charlene Newton.

Rick graduated from Concord High School in 1979 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University. He was an Industrial chemist for Molding Products/Interplastics Corp. in South Bend for 6 ½ years. He had previously worked for 23 years at Valspar Corp. Rick was an avid softball player, bowler and golfer and loved dogs.

Family and friends may visit from 4 pm to 5 pm Saturday, Dec. 29th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held at 5 pm. Jon Farrand will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to All 4 Animals Rescue in Mishawaka. Online condolences may be shared with www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com.
