Samuel Jerome Whitener

Samuel Jerome Whitener, age 61, of Elkhart he went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital. Sam was born on January 7, 1960 in Elkhart to Howard and Veretta.

Sam worked in production for several years until his healthy started to fail him. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He never missed the chance to talk to his nieces and nephews.

Sam was survived by his sisters, Angelic Whitener, Amanda James and Angel Bowen; his brother Chance James; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sisters: Carolyn A. Sutton and Leslie A. Whitener and his parents.

Friends may visit with family from 6-8 pm on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. He will be laid to rest at Rice Cemetery at a later date. Online condolence may be made to the family at www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com
