Sylvia 'Sue" Hilgendorf

Sylvia “Sue” Hilgendorf, age 66, of Elkhart passed away at home surrounded by her family, on Monday, March 15, 2021. Sue was born on May 5, 1954 in South Bend, IN to Mary A. Smith. She married Kenneth R. Hilgendorf on November 29, 1986 in Elkhart.

Sue graduated from Elkhart High School. She worked at Key Bank in human resources and she retired from Elkhart General Hospital in human resources. Sue was a member of St. Mary’s Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol. She enjoyed scrapbooking. Her greatest love in life was spending time with family and friends.  

Sue is survived by her husband of 34 years, Ken of Elkhart; children, Michelle (Kurt) Steenhoek of Denver CO. and Kevin (Sharon) Hilgendorf of Bremen, IN., grandsons, Kenneth and Thomas Hilgendorf; siblings, Bert (Barb) Sternal of Toledo, OH., Robert (Andrea) Sternal of Elkhart and Julie (Mike) Dilorenzo of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary A. Smith.

Friends may visit from 10 am to 11am on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at St. Mary’s of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 West Vistula Street, Bristol, IN 46507 where Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am. Fr. Bob Van Kempen will officiate. Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday June 16, 2021 at Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol.
