Sylvia Lou Snodgrass

Sylvia Lou Snodgrass, age 83 of Goshen passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Goshen Hospital. Sylvia was born to John “Jack” D. and Lula Mae Kneipp on July 13, 1938 in Grand Junction, CO. She married Young E. Snodgrass on November 1,1958 in Grand Junction, CO.

Sylvia graduated from Grand Junction High School and attended the University of Utah, where she was a twirler in the band.  She worked as a paraprofessional since 1986 until her retirement in 2014. She enjoyed keeping the scorebooks for years for Concord volleyball team. Sylvia and her daughter Dawn coached the cheerleaders together from 1988-1991. Sylvia was a strong supporter of the Concord High School Athletic and Preforming Arts Program Sylvia enjoyed cross stitch, needle point, knitting and enjoyed making special gifts for her family. She liked to do crossword puzzles and sudoku. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends.

Sylvia is survived by her husband of 63 years Young, their children Dawn (George) Burkley of Goshen, IN., Treva Erquitt of Clermont, FL., and William (Katy) Snodgrass of Goshen, IN.; grandchildren Charlie Burkley, Alison (Cordell) Matteson, Hunter Erquitt, Emma Paige Snodgrass, Samantha Snodgrass, Mollie Mae Snodgrass and Lucas Hart Snodgrass, and great-grandson Casen; her sister Dorla Dean Graham of Grand Junction, CO as well as several, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Sylvia was preceded by her parents John “Jack” and Lula Mae Kneipp and her brother-in-law Denny Graham.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where visitation will be from 10am -12 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Dollars for Scholars at Concord High School, 59117 Minuteman Way, Elkhart, IN 46517.
