Thomas Stiver

Thomas E. Stiver, age 77, of Elkhart passed away Tuesday November 9, 2021 at his home. Stiver as he preferred to be called. He was born February 3, 1944 in Elkhart to Maurice D. and Doris E. Stiver. On December 26, 1970 in Goshen, he married Carol J. Wyres who preceded him in death on April 7, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Jane Patten.

Tom graduated from Elkhart High School Class of 1962 and attended Temple University in Tennessee and also Liberty University. He pursued both Pastoral Studies as well as Business management. The focal point of his life was spiritual- revolving around his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and Bible studies. By trade he was a Tool, Die and Mold maker. Stiver was a life member of Trout Unlimited, belonging to the Kalamazoo Valley Chapter. He was also a life member of the NRA and enjoyed shooting trap and skeet as well as precision shooting large caliber rifles. He was an avid deer hunter with both rifle and archery in Upper Michigan and Pennsylvania. He tied trout and steelhead flies for most of his adult years and enjoyed fly fishing for trout and steelhead. Health issues prevented him from pursing these ventures the last 10 or 20 years of his life.

Funeral Services for Tom will be at 10:30am on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where visitation will be one hour before services. Tom will be laid to rest next to his wife Carol at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
