Verna Louise Stouder, age 88, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday June 27, 2021 at Eastlake Terrace, Elkhart.
She was born July 19, 1932 in Wakarusa to Wilbur Charles and Choice Pippenger. Verna married Charles J. Stouder who preceded her in death on April 7, 2015 after 67 years together.
Surviving are her daughter Sandra (Dominic) Stouder-Balbo of Granger, son Charles Stouder of South Bend, her grandson Court (Amanda) Collins, step-granddaughter Kate Balbo, great-grandson, Bradyn Collins, step-great-granddaughter Abby Weaver, ½ sister, Wanda Burkhart of Elkhart, sister-in-law Jean Pippenger of Dallas, TX and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Carol Gregg and brother Dale Pippenger.
In her youth she worked over 20 years at Miles Laboratory in the Alka-Seltzer line. She and Charles owned the Pleasant Plains Hardware in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas from 1976 until Charles death in 2015. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, and crossword puzzles. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Funeral services will be at 1pm on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 with visitation 2 hours before services. Burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen, IN.
